Experience:
From 1987 to 1999, Mr. Shen practiced as a lawyer in Wuhan, Hubei Province. In 1995 and 1996 he participated in the Legal Training Programme for Young Chinese lawyers in London and Hong Kong, in which he was trained at SOAS (University of London), and was placed with a solicitors firm and a barristers chamber in London, and a solicitors firm in Hong Kong. He joined Wang Jing & Co. in 1999. Mr. Shen is currently partner of the Firm, in charge of Team I of the Corporate/IP Group.
Mr. Shen is experienced in dealing with foreign investment, joint ventures, M & A, banking, letters of credit, shipbuilding and ship finance. He also deals with shipping cases involving bills of lading, marine cargo claims, marine insurance and lien on cargo. Mr. Shen has substantial experience with arbitration in China, in particular the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Chinese courts. Mr. Shen is currently in charge of corporate cases for the firm.
By invitation, Mr. Shen over recent years spoke at domestic and international seminars on a number of subjects, including legal issues related to lien on cargo, the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in China, and shipbuilding and ship finance. His presentations have also been published by various well-known magazines, including the BIMCO Review 2005. Mr. Shen also contributed a chapter on ship finance under China law in a guide on ship finance published by a well-known international shipping law firm.
