Experience:
Mr. Wang handled cargo claims and insurance matters for COSCO Guangzhou from 1982 to 1990, the last three years as in-house lawyer. He became an independent lawyer in 1990, and founded Wang Jing & Co. in 1994. At present he is the Firm's managing partner.
Mr. Wang has substantial experience in dealing with matters relating to bills of lading, charter parties, marine and non-marine insurance, P&I defence, oil pollution, collisions, salvage, the arrest of ships, personal injuries and death claims, maritime fraud, international trade (including the sale of goods, letters of credit and property disputes), corporate, finance, domestic and foreign investment, and dispute resolution cases (litigation and arbitration). He has handled more than 500 cases of litigation and non-litigation, and has supervised and instructed the handling of hundreds more, many of which have proved influential in the development of shipping legal practice in China. Mr. Wang is also counsel for legal affairs in China for various international P&I clubs, large domestic enterprises and multinational corporations, and is regularly invited by courts and arbitration tribunals in London, Singapore and Hong Kong to serve as expert witness on Chinese law.
As managing partner Mr. Wang has responsibility for the overall direction of the Firm, manages the Firm’s Guangzhou Headquarters and oversees its branch offices. As the same time Mr. Wang continues to devote his attention to developing the legal field. Dissertations published or presented in domestic and foreign magazines, periodicals and forums, include: Piracy and Maritime Fraud; Jurisdiction and Arbitration Clauses in Bills of Lading Disputes; Arrest of Ship and Provisions of Guarantee under Chinese Law; A Probe into the Causes & Legal Issues in Soybean Cases and Countermeasures; and Case Analysis and Legal Study of Delivery without Original Bills of Lading.
