Experience:
Mr. Xu worked in the Business Dept., Projects Dept., Adjustment & Claim Dept. and Underwriting Dept. of the People's Insurance Company of China (PICC), Shanghai Branch from 2001 to 2003. He joined Wang Jing & Co. in 2003. From September 2006 to January 2007 Mr. Xu worked at Holland & Knight LLP, New York Office as trainee.
Mr. Xu is accomplished in dealing with matters relating to insurance, bills of lading, ship arrest, cargo claims, general averages and salvage. He often advises domestic and overseas underwriters on policy liability, investigates sinking of the insured ships, recovers for cargo damage, and defends third party claims against the insured under the liability policy. He also deals with legal matters in respect of foreign investment and general commercial disputes.
The following are some of the notable matter Mr. Xu has been involved in: defending the underwriters against a claim of USD127 million for breakdown of machinery and business; defending the underwriters against a claim of USD3.95 million under a cargo transportation insurance policy arising from the theft of goods by the shipowners; recovering on behalf of underwriters for loss of cargo due to the sinking of vessel out of Vietnam; advising on a dispute under forest insurance; advising to the underwriters against a claim in the sum of RMB37million under a hull policy for sinking of the vessel at the coast of Korea; defending a top U.S. supermarket against claims for personal injuries and customer's compensation under the liability policy; defending owners for a claim of USD 1 million for contamination of chemical goods.
Mr. Xu ever appeared before the Supreme People's Court of China.
